Rocket Rumble at Develop Brighton

A couple of weeks ago Small Jelly took Rocket Rumble to the Develop, a games conference in Brighton, England. We were lucky enough to make it into the Indie Showcase, so we got to spend a couple of days exhibiting the game alongside a stack of other fantastic independently developed games.

It was a great experience for the team. Rocket Rumble has been available on Google Play Early Access for a little while now, but this was the first time we’ve had the opportunity to show the game in a public setting. We played countless Rumbles against attendees, and it was a brilliant opportunity to be able to see how players interacted with the game and gather and respond to user feedback directly.

It was also great encouragement seeing people really enjoying the game. We’ve been beavering away for some time now, so it was really lovely to get such a positive response!

As part of the Showcase we were also competing with the other teams for two awards, one decided by the official judges, and one by the people. Unfortunately we didn’t walk away with the prize, but it’s hard to feel too disappointed considering we were up against such strong competition! So we’d like to congratulate Abandon Ship’s Fireblade Software and Loco Dojo’s  Make Real on their well-deserved wins.

Finally, we’d like to say a huge thankyou to everyone who came by the booth to play the game, chat with the team, and an extra special thanks to those who took the time to do some colouring in!

We’re looking forward to taking Rocket Rumble to future events, so we hope to meet more of you soon!
